🐾 Easter Safety Reminder for Dog Owners
While you’re enjoying all the Easter treats, it’s important to keep a few things safely out of paw’s reach. Chocolate (including eggs, bunnies and mini eggs) contains theobromine, which is toxic to dogs (and sometimes caffeine). Raisins, sultanas, currants and grapes often found in hot cross buns and Simnel cake can cause serious, even fatal issues for dogs. It’s also worth checking ingredients for xylitol (a sweetener found in some sugar-free products), which is highly dangerous for pets.
Don’t forget that some spring bulbs and plants, like daffodils and tulips, can also be toxic if nibbled!
🐶 Final Tips
Bring water + snacks (Easter = busy)
Stick to leads where required
Check event-specific dog rules the day before
And finally if you’re planning an Easter egg hunt, make sure every last chocolate egg is found and picked up afterwards. Dogs have a very good nose and will happily do their own hunt if given the chance 🐶🐣
Have a wonderful Dog-Friendly Easter!
