💘 Could They Be Your Perfect Valentine?

Meet Bart & Lando, Two Greyhounds
Looking for Their Furrever Love

Valentine’s Day is here.

Some people are refreshing dating apps.
Some people are panic-ordering flowers.
And two long-legged, ridiculously lovable boys in Gloucestershire are still waiting for someone to choose them.

❌ No awkward small talk required.
Just snacks, walkies, and a shared sofa ✅

Let me introduce you to two very strong Valentine candidates…

Because sometimes the greatest love story starts with adoption 🐾

🖤 Meet Bart

Visit Bart's Adoption Page 🔗

5 years old | Neutered male

If your type is “tall, dark, and handsome,” Bart would like a word!

Recently retired from his racing career, Bart has officially entered his Soft Life Era. Think slow mornings, steady strolls, and extremely committed napping.

Yes, he can run at over 40mph.
No, he absolutely does not need to.

About Bart:

Bart enjoys short bursts of energy followed by immediate horizontal recovery. Squirrels may occasionally receive a thoughtful stare, but he has been a complete gentleman with his walkers.

While he once clocked impressive speeds, he’s now fully focused on the art of relaxation. For Bart, retirement is about comfort, calm, and being someone’s favourite part of the day.

Green Flags:

✔ Affectionate & people-focused
✔ Calm in his kennel
✔ Good with other dogs on walks
✔ Gentleman on the lead
✔ Big fan of food

Looking For:

• A solo dog home
• No cats
• Children 10+
• A home within 90 minutes of Gloucestershire
• A soft landing after racing life

Black greyhounds are too often overlooked.
Bart deserves to retire properly. On a sofa. With someone who absolutely adores him!

He’s done the fast lane. Now he’s ready for the forever one.

🤎 Meet Lando

3 years old | Neutered male

If your type is “long-legged, laid-back and charming,” Lando would love to introduce himself.

3 year old Lando has closed the chapter on racing and is now prioritising the important things in life: comfort, companionship, and schnnnacks.

He may look like a professional athlete.
But his real speciality? Competitive lounging.

About Lando:

Lando is a cuddly, easy-going boy who thrives in calm company. He enjoys gentle outings, travels beautifully, and settles quickly once home.

Life, in Lando’s opinion, is best enjoyed at a steady pace,  ideally with a soft surface nearby and someone willing to share it.

Green Flags:

✔ Cuddly & affectionate
✔ Good with other dogs
✔ Travels well
✔ Gentle, easy walker
✔ Clean in the house
✔ Good at the vet
✔ Elite sofa skills

Looking For:

• A calm home
• No cats or small furries
• Children 8+
• Possibly a dog companion (after successful introductions)
• A home within 90 minutes of Gloucestershire
• A relaxed household that values snuggles

Lando isn’t searching for speed anymore.
He’s searching for his people, and a very dependable sofa.

🤍 About Auras Dogs 🌹

Bart and Lando are currently in the care of Auras Dogs, a Gloucestershire-based rescue with a story that began with simply refusing to look away.

"Aura’s Dogs started off by helping one individual, Aura, with a handful of dogs in Romania. Dogs who a member of our team had met in Romania on a visit and fallen in love with. These dogs stood out because they had been waiting such a long time in the shelter, overlooked, unwanted, their shelter needed to be shut down, we feared they would be forgotten forever. We couldn’t stand it! We had to empty that shelter."
- Aura's Dogs.

So they made a plan.

Got them proper veterinary care.
Ran blood tests.
Brought them safely to the UK.
Welcomed them into foster homes.
Helped them decompress.
Then found them the forever homes they deserved!

But once those first dogs were safe, they didn't stop. They continued to help dogs in need, registered as an organisation and have helped hundreds of dogs find their forever homes.

And that work takes time, patience, energy, funding and a community willing to care.

💌 Before You Fall Completely in Love…

Adoption isn’t a Valentine’s gesture.
It’s a lifelong promise.

If you’re not in the position to adopt right now, sharing this post could help these boys reach the person meant for them!

& if you'd like to, there are still meaningful ways to support rescues like Auras Dogs!

• Share adoption posts to increase visibility
• Donate towards veterinary care and daily costs
• Sponsor a dog while they wait for a home
Offer foster support (if suitable)
•Volunteer
• Raise awareness about greyhound adoption

Rescue dogs don’t just need homes.
They need advocates!

💭 A Little About Greyhounds

There’s a common misconception that greyhounds are high-energy, demanding dogs who need endless exercise and space to sprint.

In my experience?
They are often some of the calmest, gentlest, most adaptable companions you could hope for.

Yes, they can run at incredible speeds. But they are sprinters, not endurance athletes. Greyhounds prefer to use their energy in bursts, oten favouring two shorter walks a day, followed by long, luxurious recovery sessions! Many greyhounds are happiest with a predictable routine, and a very comfortable place to land.

Greyhounds are known for their gentle nature. They’re often sensitive souls, observant, affectionate, (at times hilarious) and surprisingly low-maintenance once settled into home life.

After giving their early years to racing, what Bart & Lando deserve next is stability and to be chosen for life!

💌 Happy Valentines Day!

This Valentine’s, you could buy flowers.
Or you could change a life.

If one of these beautiful boys feels like your kind of love story, reach out to Auras Dogs and begin the adoption process.

And if you’re not in a position to adopt right now, please share their story.
Visibility is powerful! Their perfect match might simply not have seen them yet.
And there’s nothing more Valentine’s than finally being chosen.

In my opinion: the best Valentine is never the one who brings flowers.
It’s the one who brings you a slightly soggy toy and thinks you’re the greatest thing in the world 🐾💘
